The Best Ways to Keep Your Faith on Fire

How to make your faith grow

One way to know a serious Christian is his hunger to build up his faith and keep it on fire. When you are not hungry to increase your faith, you are not growing spiritually. One of the greatest battles of life is the battle of faith. Everything that fights a man aims at sucking his faith dry. When the devil is fighting your finances, it is not your money he is looking for, your faith is his problem. He wants you to compromise your faith. There are many children of God who are   going through all kinds of financial hardship because they have refused to bow down to Satan.

I know a Christian woman who was qualified to be promoted in her office but the man on top in that office refused to approve her promotion because the married woman rejected his request to sleep with him.

There are some Christian Graduates with a very good certificate and godly character who have not been able to secure a good job in the government and business Marketplace because they refused to swear an oath of allegiance to the devil.

What about those Christians facing all kinds of humiliation, torture, rejection, abuse, oppression and death in their country, career, business place and office because of their faith?

The truth is, if you really want to serve God in Spirit and truth, temptations and trials will come to shake and challenge your faith.

In these perilous times of persecution and trials, it has become very crucial for us as Christians to learn the best ways to keep our faith on fire, so as to be able to overcome all the devices of the enemy.  I will show you how to do that in this post. Now let’s get started.

1. MAINTAIN A HEART SEATED LOVE FOR GOD

To keep your faith on fire, you need to maintain a heart-seated love for God. A burning heart for God is what makes for a winning faith. Your faith will be as big or as small as your love for God. The limit of your love for God determines the boundary to which your faith can function. Loving God is living faith. Maintain a large heart for God. Love the Lord unconditionally. Every genuine lover of God will keep his faith on fire. Love is the fuel of faith. As long as your love for God is still burning, your faith will keep burning as well. The scripture says,

“For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth anything, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love” Gal 5:6

What makes faith to work is love. When you stop loving God, your faith will stop working. That’s the truth.  Love is the driver of faith. It is love that compels faith into action.

“For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead” 2 Cor 5:14

2. BE COMMITTED TO KINGDOM SERVICE

Every dedicated soul will always have his faith burning like fire. Kingdom service sets faith ablaze. Anything you serve becomes your master. Therefore, you can’t serve a God who is a consuming fire and your faith won’t be on fire.  The Scripture says,

“If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures” Job 36:11

The prosperity of your faith is at the mercy of your kingdom service. Quality service will inspire quality faith, poor service means poor faith. Faith and service are like twin brothers. Anything that happens to one affects the other. When your service to the Lord increases, your faith will also increase. Commitment to kingdom service is one of the best ways to ensure that your faith remains on fire. Don’t sit down in church as God’s uncle. Look for where to serve. If you are not moving anything in the house of God, nothing will move for you. When you are too big to serve God, you are too small to be blessed by God. David was the king of Israel and the richest, most talented and most popular person in his country yet he was an Usher in the house of God. The secret of David’s fiery faith was rooted in his commitment to kingdom service. Serving God does not reduce people’s height, it increases their status. Look for one service group in your church and join. Don’t be a bench warmer in the house of God. That’s not how men build their faith.

When I talk about kingdom service, I am not talking about going to church every Sunday. I don’t mean sitting down in church to copy notes. What I am talking about here is using every means available to you to promote God and His kingdom. That’s kingdom service. It’s about establishing, expanding and representing the kingdom of God here on earth.

There are three kinds of kingdom service namely,
 Spiritual Service
Physical Service
Financial Service

Your Spiritual Service involves giving your life to Christ, living a holy life and praying for the growth and expansion of the church and the kingdom of God. Your Physical service involves using your physical strength, talents and ability to serve God and promote His Agenda on the earth. Your financial service involves using your money to promote, sponsor and finance the gospel of Jesus Christ, the church of God and every other kingdom related project to the glory of God.

Now that you have understood what kingdom service is, take it very serious and your faith will never wax cold.

3. BE INVOLVED IN SOUL WINNING

Evangelism and soul winning is yet another way to keep your faith on fire as a Christian. Soul winning and evangelism is not meant only for the Pastors, Apostles and Prophets. It is the work of every Christian. It is the authentic proof of your commitment, love and faith in Christ. A Christian who does not seek the lost is lost himself. The bible says,

“The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he that winneth souls is wise.” Proverbs 11:30

Soul winning is God’s wisdom to keep your faith on fire. When you are committed to soul winning, you don’t need a supervisor to study your bible or pray. Soul winning makes you to coordinate your life in such a way that those souls you won won’t see you as a hypocrite. You may never know you have faith until you step out for soul winning. Many exploits of faith are as a result of obedience to soul winning. If you want your faith to remain strong and productive, be devoted to Soul winning and evangelism.

4. HAVE A CONSISTENT PERSONAL PRAYER LIFE

Prayer is like breathing spiritually. What oxygen does to your lungs is what prayer does to your faith. A consistent personal prayer life is another way to keep your faith on fire. As long as you remain prayerful, your faith will never cease to work.

“And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed” Mark 1:35

5. BE A WORD ADDICT
The word of God is the food of the Spirit. Anything that must grow well must feed well. So if you want to keep your faith on fire, you must continue to feed your faith with the word of God everyday. In the school of faith, learners are winners, and readers become leaders of faith. The more you study the word, the stronger your faith will become. People err from faith because they don’t know the scriptures and the power of God. Be a lifetime student of the word of God and your faith will remain on fire. The bible says,

“Is not my word like as a fire? Saith the Lord and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces” Jer 23:29

6. LIVE A LIFE OF PURITY

The strength of faith is purity. Sin is a faith killer. If you want to see your faith burning and producing wonders at every point, stay away from sin. Nothing sinks a man’s faith like lead in the water like sin. When you begin to indulge in any secret sin, your faith will start waxing cold and eventually stop working. There are many native doctors today who were once Christians. But from one secret sin to another, before you know it, they completely fell away from the faith. If you can say no to sin, your faith will last forever. Hear what God said,

“Righteousness exalteth a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people” Prov 14:34

Purity begets power. But sin brings reproach. Make your choice.

CONCLUSION
Anything of value that will last long needs maintenance. That’s why people spend hours and fortune to maintain their house, clothes, shoes, cars and even their mobile phones. It is one thing to have faith; it is another thing to maintain it. It is my belief that with the knowledge you have acquired from this post you can effectively maintain and keep your faith on fire for God. Your faith will never fail. You will succeed in Jesus name, amen.
