The Seven Spirits of God and You

One sign that you are growing spiritually is a burning desire and hunger to be at the frontline and current with the move and operations of the Holy Spirit. The proof that you are alive spiritually is this hunger within your soul to be totally immersed into the fullness of the Spirit.

If you just want to be a bench warmer in the church, this post is not for you. Please you can do something else with your time. But if your heart desire is to know the Holy Spirit more and be filled with the Fullness of His presence, power and glory, this post is written just for you.

The term Seven Spirits of God remains a subject of confusion and misunderstanding among many Christians, especially the new believers. In this post, I will explain to you in simple and clear terms what the seven Spirits of God means from Biblical perspective. I will also show you the supernatural effects and benefits of the seven Spirits of God, so you can leverage on them and change the circumstances of your life.

What is the Seven Spirits of God?

The term Seven Spirits of God refers to the seven-fold ministry of the Holy Spirit. It means the seven-fold operations of the Holy Spirit in the life of a believer. The Holy Spirit is not seven. He is only one, but He can manifest His presence and Power in seven different forms. The Bible says,

And unto the angel of the Church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead. Rev 3:1

And out of the throne proceeded lightings and thunderings and voices and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God. Rev 4:5

And I beheld, and , lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth. Rev 5:6

Before we go further, let us look at some of the key words used in the scriptures above and what they mean. The Angel of the Church in Sardis refers to the Priest or ordained minister in charge of the church in Sardis. It doesn’t refer to the angel of God in heaven. The seven stars refer to the seven churches in the Asia Minor.

The seven Spirits of God are the lamps of fire while the church is their lampstand.  The church will reign and rule on the earth when these lamps of fire of the Seven Spirits of God are burning at their maximum intensity in the church.  Moreover, the seven horns and seven eyes of the lamb that was slain also represent the seven Spirits of God.

It is worthy of note that the seven spirits of God are not sent forth to remain only in the church. They are sent forth into all the earth. The end time agenda of God is to fill the whole earth with the presence, power and glory of the Holy Spirit, as the waters cover the sea.

No field of human existence will escape the invasion of the Holy Spirit this end- time. Whether you are in Government, education, business world, media, family, Entertainment or inside the church, you will see the tangible impact of the Holy Spirit wherever you are. It will be so heavy that you be a dishonest person to deny His presence.

Take note, the Holy Spirit is not in heaven right now. He is here on the earth to continue the greater works of Christ.

What is the Seven-fold Ministry of the Holy Spirit?

We have established in this post that the Seven Spirits of God refers to the seven-fold ministry and operations of the Holy Spirit in the life of a Believer. Now let’s look at what this seven-fold ministry or operations of the Holy Spirit are. The Bible says,

And the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord. Isaiah 11:2

The seven Spirits of God are:

• The Spirit of Lordship
• The Spirit of wisdom
• The Spirit of Understanding
• The Spirit of Counsel
• The Spirit of Might
• The Spirit of Knowledge
• The Spirit of the Fear of the Lord

• The Spirit of Lordship

This is the Spirit of dominion, royalty and kingship. By redemption, every believer is born to rule and reign on the earth (Rev 5:10). We are meant to be the head and not the tail, to be the first and not the last. It is our birthright in Christ to govern, manage, influence and control the earth on behalf of God. But unfortunately some of us are lost in obscurity, shut down very far away from the corridors of power and influence on the earth. When the righteous are not in power, the wicked will rule the land. They will make policies that will be unfavorable to the kingdom of God and humanity. That’s why we need the Spirit of Lordship. He empowers the believer to have dominion on the earth.

• The Spirit of Wisdom

One of the operations of the Holy Spirit in the life of a believer is the Spirit of wisdom. It is the Holy Spirit that empowers the believer to operate with the wisdom of God. The wisdom of this world is a child’s play when compared with the wisdom that the Holy Spirit gives. Wisdom is not common sense. Common sense is common with every common man. Wisdom is uncommon sense. It is the supernatural sense of the Holy Spirit. It is divine ability to proffer supernatural answers and solution to difficult situations of life. Wisdom is mighty works. It is the right application of relevant and godly knowledge. The Holy Spirit gave Jesus Christ the wisdom to turn water into wine, walk on the river and multiply five loaves of bread into twelve baskets of bread. That’s divine wisdom. It is not craftiness or tricks. Every great creativity and innovation among the saints is traceable to this wisdom.

• The Spirit of Understanding

This is yet another operation and ministry of the Holy Spirit in the life of a believer. No child of God that is full of the Holy Spirit should be a dummy. The Holy Spirit will empower your mind to understand things quickly beyond your age and academic qualification. A little child who has the Holy Spirit will understand mysteries and issues of life more than an old Professor who doesn’t have the Holy Spirit. Understanding is the right interpretation of facts. It is knowing why and how of everything. It is very wrong for a believer who is filled with the Holy Spirit to be confused with the little questions and examinations of life. When you have the Holy Spirit, you should understand all things. The ministry of the Holy Spirit is to give you understanding in all things.

• The Spirit of Counsel

Another powerful ministry and operation of the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of counsel. It is the duty and assignment of the Holy Spirit to counsel, mentor, advice, teach and coach the believer in every area of life. If you know this thing I am telling you here, you won’t fail in life anymore. How can you fail when you have the Holy Spirit as your counselor and special adviser? That’s not possible. It is the operation of the Holy Spirit in our lives that fills us with divine strength and might to do what we could not have done with our natural strength and energy. There are thousands and millions of things you can never do with your human strength and ability. You need the strength of the Holy Spirit to do the impossible and achieve excellent result on the earth. David as a little boy could not have been able to kill the lion, bear and Goliath by his own strength; it was by the might and strength of the Holy Spirit. We can do all things through Christ (The Holy Spirit and His Might) that strengthens us.

• The Spirit of Knowledge

This is another powerful ministry of the Holy Spirit in the life of a believer. The Holy Spirit gives us supernatural knowledge and insight into every mystery of God and man. Knowledge is the acquisition of relevant and sensible information. When you are not informed, you will be deformed. The Holy Spirit opens our mind to see great and mighty facts which ordinary minds cannot see. Knowledge is power. Lack of it can lead to destruction. It is within the ministry of the Holy Spirit to furnish the believer with every intelligent and godly knowledge he requires in life and destiny.

• The Spirit of the Fear of the Lord

This is yet another ministry and operation of the Holy Spirit in the life of a believer. It is in the office of the Holy Spirit to help a believer to fear and respect God all the days of his life. Without the Spirit of the fear of God, no one can live a holy and righteous life in this world that is full of evil and wickedness. The Spirit of the fear of God helps you to respect and honour God anywhere you go and to depart and flee from evil as a child of God. The Spirit of the fear of the Lord is what helps the believer to do those things that please God.

The number seven is the number of perfection, completeness and fullness. The seven Spirits of God is the fullness and perfection of all the operations of the Holy Spirit. When you have the seven Spirits of God, you operate in the fullness of the Spirit. This is your season. Your best time to walk in the fullness of the Holy Spirit is now.
