Do you want to develop yourself to become a better person at home, in your business, career and nation? That's a good idea. God is more interested in who you are becoming more than what you are achieving. In a world full of sycophants, people can be clapping for you even when you are falling into a pit. These days it is becoming very hard to see friends who have the guts to look you in the face and tell you where you are wrong without fear or favour.
With that being said, no one is in the best position to tell you the truth about yourself rather than you. And no one can develop you unless you choose to develop yourself. You need to become your own leader, coach, supervisor and judge.
If you are already perfect and need no change in your behavior, character and mindset, please you can stop reading here and do something else with your time.
If you are that person who likes to do good but always see yourself doing bad, this post is for you. If you are good but wants to become a better person in your thinking, words and actions, keep reading. If you are already doing better but want to be the best of you, this post will be helpful.
Before we go further, bear in mind that your personality is who you are and how you behave in the public when everyone is watching you. But your character is who you are and how you behave in the secret when no one is watching you.
Your personality is temporal but your character is eternal. Personal development is what the name implies. It is all the activities and efforts you put in cultivating and nurturing certain positive attitudes, principles and behavior that make you a better person. Now let's get started.

1. Make friends with successful people and occasionally buy them gifts and surprise them with lunch because successful people always give and hardly get, so when you give them, they value the gift a lot.
2. Get a mentor and follow his instructions and respect the relationship. Never beg your mentor for money or disrespect his or her privacy.
3. Make new positive friends as often as possible and ensure you keep the communication line open. Create a network of friends and not just connections.
5. Show kindness to everyone. Some small boys today will be big boys tomorrow. The biggest dog in the neighbourhood was once a puppy. Keep the information/secret to yourself.
6. Always plan ahead and be proactive.
He that plans the future works less in the future. The future you do not plan for will not plan for you. Failure to plan is planning to fail. Don't just sit in your corner waiting for the future to come. Plan for the future. The future you didn't plan for will frustrate you when you get there.
7. Listen to speeches and messages from great teachers, both religious and educational.
Living is listening. God gave you two ears and one mouth so that you can listen more and talk less. Sometimes it pays more to sit down and listen than standing on the stage to talk to others.
8. Attend seminars and trainings on any area you need to improve yourself - Train the trainer, personal development, public speaking, sales etc. The difference between a novice and a professional is training. If you shy away in the time of training, who will feature you in the time of reigning?
9. Have the habit of keeping a pen and a writing pad handy because ideas come in the form of flashes. The smallest pen is bigger and better than the biggest brain.
10. Make sure at every point in time you are reading a book. If you spend 20 minutes reading daily, for 52 weeks you would have consumed 1,000,000 words.
11. Stay away from television as much as possible. You can watch educational channels. Men with big TV sit in front of them to watch men with big libraries.
12. Put control over your mouth; never say evil of any man; what you are not certain of should not be said. Say good of all men.
13. Always show appreciation for any good deed you received.
Appreciation is an application for more. What you appreciate will increase, what you don't appreciate will naturally decrease. People who help you don't owe you anything by helping you. Don't see it as people's obligation to help you, see it as a privilege. When people do any good thing for you, courtesy demands you should say thank you. Thank you is just a two word sentence, but it means alot. Whether you will continue to receive favour and kindness from God and men, it depends on your attitude to saying "Thank you". To be ungrateful is to be a great fool.
14. Always help someone in need.
Kindness is always pregnant. Mercy is reciprocal. An opportunity to help someone today is an investment for tomorrow. Someone you helped today can help you tomorrow. Be a helper. People have seen enough of pains and trouble, please don't add salt to injury in people's problems.
15. Live a debt free life. What you can’t pay cash for is not your size.
A debtor is a slave to the creditor. Until you are free from debt, you are not free indeed. Don't borrow to buy liabilities. It is self punishment.
16. Give out loans that you can part with as gift, so that you don’t destroy your business and relationship.
17. Create legitimate multiple sources of income.
Every millionaire I know has at least 3-5 sources of income. If you have only one source of income without option B, you are yet to find financial freedom.
18. Save at least 10 percent of your income.
Wisdom saves, folly spends it all. At least 10% of your income is your own pay for savings. You can't continue to pay everyone without paying yourself. You pay the taxi driver, you pay the newspaper vendor, you pay the pure water seller. You pay everyone but yourself. The only way to pay yourself is to save at least 10% of your income for future investment.
19. Invest a portion of your income, and be patient to see it grow. If what you have in your hands is not good to be called a harvest then it’s a seed; sow it. Money in the bank is not wealth. Rich men have their wealth in assets and not cash deposits in the bank. Invest in real estate, stocks and other viable investment opportunities around you.
20. Keep a good financial record of all income and expenses, so you won’t ask later “where did my money go”
Every dime that comes into your hand counts. Until you are accountable with accurate record of your income and expenses you don't have a financial future yet.
21. Be involved in community service- Control traffic, free lesson class for students etc.
22. Keep getting better on your daily goals and dream, develop yourself on them and make sure you get to the top 10 % of your industry.
23. Make sure you engage in physical exercise. It keeps your brain alert and your body fit to enjoy your success.
A sound mind needs a sound body to produce a sound result. Physical exercise is beneficial for your personal health and fitness.
24. Pray often, and know that for every success, God made it possible.
It is not joke that there is no success outside God. Success is spiritual. Until you understand the Mystery of Prayer, your journey to success will remain a continuous struggle. Prayer is the master key to success.
