In a world where many voices are speaking to man seeking to direct him, we must sieve every vision we receive to ascertain whether it is from God or not. Many have received a vision thinking it’s from God and it landed them in destruction. For there is a way that seems right to a man, but the end thereof is destruction and regret. Not every vision is from God. Some visions are Satanic, sponsored by demonic forces to lure man away from God into error and destruction. A good number of visions that look like they are from God on the surface are man-made visions, sponsored by perverted minds and lusts of the flesh. In this post today, I shall try to answer the following questions:
What is Vision from God? How do I know if a Vision is from God? Now let's get started.
What is Vision from God?
Vision is not a nightmare. It is not that which transpires at night during sleep. Vision, in my opinion, is not also a human aspiration. Some aspirations may be selfish and demonic without any element of godliness in them. Vision is not an insinuation based on a situation. That your secular business is not succeeding is not a vision that God is calling you into Pastoral Ministry. Vision is the unveiling of God’s divine plan, purpose, and agenda for an individual or a group of people, place, or thing at a definite time. Vision is the uncovering of God's assignment for an individual or group of People at a definite period of time. Vision is discovering the reason why you are here on the earth. It is knowing what God deployed you on earth to do. Vision is not necessarily eyesight. It is mind-sight. There are many eyes that look, but only a few minds see. Vision is a mental picture of your colorful future. Vision is seeing from the scripture the picture of your future. Now that we have defined what vision is, let's go further and find out How to know a Vision from God.
20 Characteristics of a Vision from God
"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things” Philippians 4:8
1. A Vision From God must Be True.
Any vision that is clothed with lies and falsehood is not from God. It is cooked from the hottest part of hell. The devil is the father of all liars, so he is the personality behind every vision wrapped with lies and deception. A vision from God is always true. It is legit and very honest. If there is any atom of insincerity and falsehood, it is an illusion from hell meant to deceive people and the carrier of the vision as well.
2. A Vision From God must Be Honest
You can know the credibility of a vision by its honesty. If a vision doesn’t keep its promises, it is not from God. Any vision from God cannot lie. It delivers on its terms. If there is no honesty in a vision, it lacks the credibility of divinity.
"God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good"? Num 23:19
3. A Vision From God Must Be Just.
A Vision from God takes pleasure in just and righteous works. If a vision enjoys wickedness like bread, it is from the devil. Any vision that promotes sin and unrighteous works is a vision from the devil. God is a just God, if the vision is not just, it is not from God.
4. A Vision From God Must Be Pure
The purity of vision lies in its transparency, open accountability, fairness, and equity. If a vision is not pure, it has skeletons in her cupboard and that vision cannot be from God. You need to be careful of a vision that has goals, mission, and values that are kept secret from the general public. Such can be a trap from the enemy.
5. A Vision From God Must Be Lovely
A true vision from God is always lovable by God and humanity. If you are the only one who loves the vision, it may not be God speaking to you. You may be the one speaking to yourself. A true vision from heaven is something that God and man love. Ask yourself, does God love this? Will people love it? If it is from heaven, it will be something God loves, as well as the people.
6. A Vision From God Must Be of Good Report
A Vision from God will have a good report. If it is something that is negatively spoken of, it cannot be from God. If it has a bad name and evil report, watch it, that can be the trademark of the devil. Before you begin to run with any vision, check its report card. What is God saying about it? What can people say about it? Good or bad?
7. A Vision From God Must Have Virtue
A Vision from God carries weight. If the vision is not bigger than you, it is not from God. A vision from God has virtue which is power, strength, and capacity. God doesn’t give a small vision. God is big and He gives big vision according to His size. Not yours.
8. A Vision From God Must Bring Praise to God
A true vision has only one mission: to glorify God on the earth. If the vision is for self-glorification and praise of men. It is from the pit of hell. If it is for showman biz it is an illusion. A true vision from God will bring praise and honor to God on the earth.
9. The Vision Must Improve people
A vision from God is for the betterment of the people. A true vision from God will improve human life and make society better. If the vision doesn’t transform and improve people, it is not from God. You can know a vision from God by the benefits and blessings it brings to humanity.

10. The Vision Must Live long After the Bearer is Dead.
A true vision from God will stand the test of time. Longevity is an acid test of divinity-inspired vision. A true vision from heaven will continue to live and exist long after the bearer of the vision is dead and gone. If the bearer of the vision dies and the vision dies with him, that vision is not from God.
11. The Vision Must Agree with the Word of God
The Holy Bible is the final authority to check the credibility of every vision. A vision that is anti-scripture is false and satanic. If the Bible doesn’t support it, forget it, it’s a trap from the devil. A heavenly-inspired vision always has a biblical backup.
To the law and the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them. Isaiah 8:20
12. The Vision should give you Peace of Mind
I don’t know anything less than manipulation than a vision that doesn’t give you peace of mind. If your mind is not at rest, it is not from God. A vision from God fills your heart with inner peace. God speaks peace to His people, not fear and anxiety.
13. The Vision should Give Divine Refreshment
One way to know a vision from God is the refreshment that it brings. You don’t get worn out doing it. Your youth is renewed like the eagle. If you lack passion, zeal, and vigor to pursue it, then it is not from heaven. A vision from God will naturally turn you on 24/7. There is no leave, vacation, or retirement, you just love doing it, because you are at the Centre of God’s divine plan for your life. You wake up every morning with a fresh hunger for it.
14. A Vision From God Should Enjoy Supernatural Provision and Favour.
Every divine vision enjoys divine provision and favor.
If the vision is from God, you will see the goodness of God on it. If a vision lacks divine provision, it is not from God. God will always sponsor whatever vision He ordains. Anything God asks you to do is what He will help you to do. Anywhere God sends you to go, that's the only place He can go with you. If you give yourself a vision, you will be liable to sponsor it yourself.
15. The Vision Should Fill You with the Joy of the Lord.
One authentic proof of divine vision is the joy of the Lord. When a vision is from God, there is this unexplainable joy that will fill your heart. You will feel satisfaction and fulfillment even when you are not paid for doing it. If you can’t find joy in your heart, please watch it.

16. The Vision Should Bring Divine Enablement.
Every vision from God empowers the carrier supernaturally to fulfill it. God can’t call you to be a singer and won’t give you the voice to sing. God can’t call you to be a preacher and won’t give you the grace that your calling requires. Any vision God gives, He releases the enablement, skills, talents, potentials, and gifts to fulfill the task.
17. The Vision Should Bring Divine Revelation.
Every vision from God comes with a wisdom pack that furnishes the carrier with the revelation, insight, knowledge, and secrets that the vision needs to thrive. If God gives you the vision to build a university for Him, He will give you wisdom and knowledge in the field of education like no one else. There is no single person God gives a vision and won’t give him the revelation to interpret the vision.
18. The Vision must Command undeniable Proofs.
The end of every argument is the result. Proofs are signatures of divine vision. If a vision is from God, it will produce results. A Vision from God will speak at the end. A vision that is not fruitful cannot be from God. God doesn’t give birth to a failure. A true vision from God will lead to success and greatness. It will produce excellence and evidence. At the end of the day, even doubters will believe God gave the vision by the virtue of the proofs they have seen.
"Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples". John 15:8
19. The Vision Must Give liberty to Your Spirit.
Another way to know if a vision is from God especially when you have a living Spirit is to check for the liberty of the Spirit. If your Spirit man is not free concerning the vision or assignment, it is not from God. If you feel restricted or bound in the Spirit towards that vision, it is a trap from the pit of hell.
20. The Vision must Promote and Represent the Kingdom of God.
A Vision from God must represent and promote God and His kingdom. If a vision doesn’t promote God, it is from the devil. Check where the substance of allegiance lies. When you see companies and organizations sponsoring Satanic shows that do not honor God, understand that such vision has sworn allegiance to the dark kingdom.
Conclusion
Now that you have known how to ascertain a vision from God, it is my earnest desire that you will run with God’s vision for your life. Time will test your vision and challenges will weigh it on a balance. Don’t throw away your God-given vision in the face of staggering oppositions and challenges. Trust God and keep matching forward. There will be light at the end of the tunnel. God bless you.
