Prayer is to your Spiritual life what Oxygen is to your lungs. Just like in the physical when you stop breathing, you start dying, in the same way, when you stop praying, you start dying spiritually. That's because prayer is spiritual breathing. When a man is not praying, he is not breathing spiritually. So to be prayerless is to be lifeless. No matter how much you love your spouse, you cannot breathe for him or her. Everyone who wants to stay alive will have to breathe with his or her nose and lungs. That's how it is spiritually. No one can pray for you. Prayer is every man's responsibility. The Scripture says, " That men out to pray and not to faint" Luke 18:1. In this post, we shall consider 10 Reasons why you should Pray. Now let's get started.
1. To express your love for God
One of the reasons why you should pray is not just to get material things from God. We pray because we are in a relationship with God. And there is no true relationship without communication. We pray to express our love for God. You need to understand that man's greatest need is not money, but God. When prayer becomes a delight to you and not just an obligation, you may be in the place of prayer for days and it will look like you are just beginning. Prayer becomes a lifestyle when it is a delight of the soul and the longing of the Spirit and not just an obligation.
2. To obey God's Instruction
We pray because God's word commanded us to Pray. One of the reasons we pray is to obey God's command and Instruction to Pray. Failure to pray is a sin. You cannot be prayerless and not be guilty before God. The Bible says, " Pray ye the Lord of the Harvest that He may send forth laborers into His vineyard. Samuel said I will not sin against God by failing to pray for Israel. Failure to Pray is a sin before God. It is an error for a man to exist without prayer. When you don't pray you are a disobedient person.
3. To Renew Our Strength
Another reason we pray is to renew strength. In the place of prayer, the weak are made strong, the captives are set free, the sick are healed and the confused get direction for their destiny. Isaiah 40:31 declares "They that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary, and they shall walk, and not faint." In the natural men don't fly. But Pray can make a natural man fly in the Spirit realm like eagles above every storm of this life. You will never know how powerful prayer is until you start praying.

4. To Transform our Lives
One of the reasons why you should pray is because prayer does not only change situations, it changes the life and character of the one who prays. The place of prayer is the place where mortal men are forged as gods. It is in the place of prayer that age-long bad habits are broken. The longer we behold His beauty in the place of prayer, the quicker we are changed to be like Him. Real transformation is a reward for prevailing prayers. Jesus prayed to a point that His garment changed to dazzling white. Prayer can change your perception, character, and lifestyle.
5. To enforce the Will of God on the earth
One of the reasons why you should pray is to enforce the will of God on the earth. Luke 11:2 declares that we should pray for the will of God to be done on earth as it is done in heaven. You need to know that God has given the believer authority to rule and reign on the earth. God has handed the earth under the control and rulership of man. Until prayer goes up from the earth, the will of God may not be done on the earth. God will never do anything on the earth until prayer ascends to heaven from the earth.
6. To destroy the powers of the devil
One of the reasons why you should pray is to destroy the powers of the devil. Satanic oppression is real, wickedness is real but it is through prayer that we can push back all the attacks of the enemy and overcome them. There are principalities and powers which cannot bow to our human strength, reasoning, and abilities. Prayer is a sure way through which we unleash the weapons of our warfare which are not carnal.

7. To sustain the blessings of God
One of the reasons why you should pray is to sustain the blessings of God. Anything that was born from the womb of prayer will also take prayer to sustain it. If God gives you anointing, favor, divine healing, deliverance, and financial breakthrough through prayer, you will also need to keep praying to sustain those blessings.
8. To Receive Help from God
One of the reasons why you should pray is to receive help from God. By scripture, we understand that God is the only helper of man. Friends and relatives may fail you. Even your human strength, reasoning, and abilities are limited. In the place of prayer, we look away from ourselves and look unto God for help. We pray to prove to God that we don't have another alternative except Him. We pray to God to prove that our confidence is not in any man. Prayer is the sure way to secure help from God.
9. To advance the kingdom of God on the earth
One of the reasons why you should pray is to advance the kingdom of God on the earth. Prayer is the spiritual weapon for moving the gospel forward and creating an enabling environment for souls to be saved. The work of God will suffer on the earth if there are no people who can pray. God is the one building His church but the building blocks He will use is the prayer of the Saints. You that make mention of the Lord, give Him no rest until He establishes and makes Jerusalem a praise on the earth.
10. To prepare the way for God's visitation
One of the reasons why you should pray is to spiritually prepare the way for divine visitation. By scriptures, we understand that every spiritual visitation from God is usually preceded by a human preparation. Your preparation in the place of prayer determines your experience in the open. God does not just visit people. It takes your invitation in the place of prayer to qualify for His visitation.

Prayer is power. And to be prayerful is to be powerful. Your investment in the place of prayer determines your worth and value in the real world. If you are not praying, then you are playing. The devil will have you do everything except to pray. The devil hates to see a child of God pray. Because he knows what will happen when the righteous pray fervently. The fervent and heartfelt prayer of the righteous makes tremendous power available which is dynamic in its operation. Receive grace to be strong in prayer in Jesus name.
