One of the major doctrinal subjects hotly debated among Church people especially in Nigeria and other African Nations is the question whether it's a sin for a woman to wear trouser to a church service or not. In this post,we shall give answer to that question in the light of the truth.
First let me begin by saying that Christianity was not an African religion. African religion was Idolatry. It was American and British Missionaries who brought Christianity to Africa. Then before Christianity came to Africa, the African culture doesn't permit a woman to wear trouser. Women were known to cover their privates with wrappers. With that being said, you can understand why many religious African churches don't allow women to wear trouser to church. In my opinion, African religious churches have mixed up Christianity with their African culture. And that's quite unfortunate.
Christianity is not an African culture. It has nothing to do with African religion. Christianity is the way of life of God. It is God living and working in a man. A Christian is one who lives like Christ. So the matters of the kingdom are beyond trivial issues like a lady wearing trouser or not.
Permit me to state here unequivocally, that it's not a sin for a woman to wear trouser to church. In the other hand, that you wear skirt, gown or blouse to church as a woman doesn't make you Righteous before God.
When you ask those who claim that it's a sin for a woman to wear trouser to church to give a scripture backup for their belief and doctrine, they quote one scripture Deuteronomy 22:5
"The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God."
My question is, where is the word "Trouser" in Deut 22:5? You can't find it in that verse of the bible or anywhere in the scriptures. If English means anything I believe what that scripture is saying is that a woman should not wear a garment that belongs to a man. The word pertains means belongs to. So in a simple term, if a woman wears her own clothes or garments, it's not a sin. Every mature individual knows that there are two kinds of trousers. There is a man's trouser which belongs to the man. And there's a woman's trouser which belongs to the woman. Therefore, according to the law of Moses, if a woman is not wearing her husband's trouser she has not committed a sin.

Sisters let me ask you a question. Do you wear your husband's trouser or your boyfriend's trouser to church or your own trouser? Next time anyone tells you this bullshit, tell them you are not wearing your husband's trouser but your own lady's trouser. That may lend them a little Sense.
Moreover, that law was a Judaic law given to the Jews. We are not Jews and we are not under the law of Moses or Judaism. We are Christians.
What does the Bible Teach about dressing for a Christian woman?
The bible instructs every Christian woman to dress modestly or decently. Decent dressing is wearing clothes that will portray you to be a good, decent and godly woman. It is wearing clothes that don't expose your private body parts or makes you unnecessarily seductive to the male gender. As a Christian woman, your dressing should be decent whether you are putting on Trouser, skirt or blouse. You should dress for honour and dignity, not to kill or seduce. There are some skirts that are too transparent or too short to come close to the holy place to avoid distraction. The bible says,
