The Ministry of Angels

Are you always conscious or afraid of demons? You don’t need to be conscious or afraid of demons anymore. As a child of God, you need to be conscious of the ministry of angels in your life and family. Angels are more real than demons. They are very powerful, smart, intelligent, and beautiful creatures. The purpose of this article is to help you understand the sacred duties angels are sent to do for the kingdom of God and for God’s people. As you read through the lines of this post, you will understand the very nature of angels, who they are, how they operate, and what they can do for you. It is my desire that before you are done reading this post, you will experience the ministry of angels and their visitation in your life, family, business, and career. THE NATURE OF ANGELS

Who are Angels?

Angels are Spirit beings created by God to serve God and His people. They are Ministering Spirits or special servants of God. They are spirit beings with celestial bodies and their soul or mind is completely subject to the will of God. They don’t have a physical body like humans do. However, on special duty as occasion demands, an angel can take or appear in the form of a human body to deliver his message to the person he is sent to. Examples, when angel Gabriel appeared to Virgin Mary (Luke 1:26-38) and when angel Gabriel appeared to Zacharias in the temple (Luke 1:11-20). Talking about the nature of angels, the bible says,

“Are not the angels all ministering spirits (servants) sent out in the service [of God for the assistance] of those who are to inherit salvation?” Hebrews 1:14 AMP

“Referring to the angels He says, [God] who makes His angels winds and His ministering servants flames of fire” Hebrews 1:7

Angels are ministering servants made by God for the service of God and His people.

The Characteristics of Angels

1. Angels are holy- Matt 25:31, Rev 14:10

2. Angels have supernatural strength beyond every human reasoning or ability- Psalm 103:20

3. They are obedient, loyal, and subject to the will and word of God- Psalm 103:20

4. Angels are mighty, the height of one Angel can be taller than the highest tower or mountain on the earth- 2 Thess 1:7

5. Angels are not limited by distance, space, or time. They can enter into your room even when your doors and windows are locked-Acts 12:7-11

6. Angels are not sentimental, they obey God’s order on any matter-

Different Kinds of Angels and their Hierarchies

There are different kinds of angels and they operate in hierarchies. Examples are

1. The archangels-

The archangels are the leading angels. They are greater and stronger than other angels. They are mostly for the defense of the kingdom of God and God’s people. They are military and warrior angels. They are specially created for fighting. The leader of the archangels is Angel Michael. They are not messenger angels like Gabriel. They are warriors and fighting angels. Any time there is a war or battle to fight, God sends out Michael or other archangels. One archangel can destroy the entire army of Russia, the United States, China, and Israel in one second. The archangels are very fierce and powerful. They don’t fight with human strength or intelligence. They fight with the full strength and intelligence of God (Rev 12:7-9, Daniel 10:13).

2. The Cherubim

The Cherubims are the guarding angels (Genesis 3:24). They are keepers and watchers of God’s throne- The mercy seat (Psalm 99:1, Psalm 80:1, Exodus 25:20)

3. Seraphims

The Seraphims are worshipping angels. They sing, praise, and worship God who made the heavens and the earth. They adore and praise God in the beauty of His holiness. (Isaiah 6:2-3)

How Many Angels does God have?

There is no specific number mentioned in the bible. The bible only told us that God has thousands of angels. They can be billion or trillion in number. God has thousands upon thousands of angels. The number of angels God has is far greater than the number of demons or fallen angels that rebelled against God with the devil. The bible says,

“The chariots of God are twenty thousand, EVEN THOUSANDS OF ANGELS: the Lord is among them, as in Sinai, in the holy place” Psalm 68:17

The Ministry of Angels

We have established the fact that angels are ministering servants of God and His people. So what services do angels render to God’s people? Below are some of them:

1. Angels protect and keep God’s people from harm and evil- Psalm 91:11

It is within the ministry of angels to protect and keep the people of God from danger and evil. However, an angel will not keep or protect anyone unless God gives the angel charge or commandment to do so. The angels don’t do anything except it is commanded by the Lord. If you are a born-again child of God, you can also command your angels to protect and keep you from harm and evil. You can pray to God to give His angels charge over your life and family, to keep you and guard you against all evil.

2. Angels bring God’s special message to God’s people- Luke 1:26-38

One of the primary ways through which God brings his special messages to the people on the earth is through the ministry of angels. You can receive a message from God directly from an angel. It was the Angel Gabriel who brought the message about the birth of Jesus Christ to the Virgin Mary. It was the same Angel Gabriel who brought the message about the birth of John the Baptist to Zachariah the husband of Elizabeth. You can get a direct message from God through the ministry of angles. The angel of the Lord can tell you what is going to happen before it happens. The Lord can send His angel to reveal the secrets of God or the plans and intentions of your enemies to you.

3. They can deliver you from captivity and bondage- Acts 12:7-11

Angels are God’s special rescue force for His people. When a child of God is in danger, God can send His angel to rescue him from captivity. Where natural men cannot enter, an angel can enter there. An angel can pass through a wall, air, water, or land without being seen by human eyes. An angel can enter into prison and bring someone out. Apostle Peter experienced this aspect of the ministry of angels. Daniel the Prophet in the land of Babylon also experienced this ministry of angels when he was thrown into the lions’ den.

4. Angels can strengthen and encourage you- Luke 22:43

Sometimes, one can be discouraged, grieved, or depressed; the angel of the Lord can strengthen you. It is the ministry of angels to encourage and strengthen God’s people in their time of grief and sorrow. Jesus Christ the son of God benefited from this aspect of the ministry of angels during His days of travail on the earth.

5. Angels can bring you supernatural provision and supplies-1 Kings 19:5-8

There are many good things an angel can do for you. One of them is supernatural provision or divine supply. In a time of lack and want, God can send His angel to bring you material relief and provisions. An Angel brought cake and water to Elijah the prophet; you too can receive favor from the Lord through the ministry of angels.

6. An Angel can lead and direct you to where you are going when you don’t know the way- Exodus 14:19

Another wonderful thing an angel can do for you is to guide and direct you to your destination when you don’t know how to get there. Angels are God’s messengers. They can lead you to where you are going if you ask for their help. You can enjoy the leading of the Lord through the ministry of angels. When the angel of the Lord is the one leading you, there is no way you will get lost. Angels know the way you are going. They know the best way to get there. You can enjoy divine direction via the ministry of angels.

7. An Angel can deliver you from destruction and calamity- Daniel 6:22

Deliverance from destruction is possible through the ministry of angels. When you don’t know what to do, when your precarious situation is beyond your human strength and abilities, ask the Lord for angelic intervention. God can send His angel to rescue you and your loved ones from the grips of your enemies. Angels can enter where your legs cannot enter. They can fight those things that are stronger than you. Be conscious of the ministry of angels.

Should we Worship angels or pray to them?

No, we should not worship angels. Angels are not meant to be worshipped. We are commanded to worship only God. It is scripturally wrong for anyone to worship an angel. It is tantamount to idolatry. Angels don’t accept worship from humans. They are servants of God; hence they direct us to worship their Boss and maker who is the almighty God. Any Christian who worships angel Gabriel, angel Michael or any other angel is doing so at the detriment of his soul. Secondly, angels don’t answer prayer. It is wrong to pray to angel Michael or angel Gabriel. No angel in heaven prays or intercedes for the saints. The only mediator and intercessor of the Saints is Jesus Christ and His Holy Ghost. There is a role the angels play with the prayers of God’s people. The angels offer the prayers of the saints to God like incense.

“Another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne” Rev 8:3

This scripture below shows us that it is forbidden for anyone to worship an angel for any reason.

“And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, see thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: Worship God” Rev 19:10

CONCLUSION

Angels are ministering spirits. They are servants of God who do the will and command of God. They don’t have flesh and blood but they have a celestial body. They have wings with which they fly. They can appear in the form of a man when they have a specific message from God to deliver to a particular man. Angels are powerful. They are immortal.
