Knowing the Benefits of Grace is one thing but knowing how to access Grace is a different thing. Many people know what Grace can do but only few people know how to strategically position themselves in order to receive the grace of God in their lives. The grace of God is unlimited and unfinishable. No matter how much we draw from God's reservoir of grace, it doesn't finish. There's more than enough grace in God for all of us. Sometimes, the more you receive, the more it keeps increasing from the source. Grace is such an amazing spiritual force. Everyone of us needs the grace of God. It doesn't matter if you are a pastor or just a member of a local assembly. Where your human strength, reasoning and abilities end, that's where the grace of God begins. The end of man is the beginning of grace. The direct opposite of the law is grace. What protocols, principles, traditions and laws of man are not capable of doing, that's what grace is able to do. What grace cannot do doesn't exist. But how can we receive the grace of God? What are the ways to access grace from God? This is what we shall be talking about in this post. Read carefully to the end, you will get value.

1. We Access Grace through Prayer-Heb 4:16

Prayer is one of the protocols for accessing grace from God. The prayer altar is the gateway to the throne of grace. We are encouraged to come boldly unto the throne of grace that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. If you want to live and walk in grace, you need to become a man or woman of prayer. There's something about prayer. It opens the portals of grace to anyone who prays. The more you pray, the more you access grace. I have said it several times that no one can pray for you better than yourself. If no one can actually eat on your behalf or breath in and out for you, in the same way, no one can truly pray for you. If you want to stay alive spiritually, you have to cultivate a personal prayer life. The more frequent you come before the throne of grace, the more you access the grace of God to help in time of need.

2. We Access Grace through Revelation Knowledge - 2 Peter 1:2

One of the channels of the Spirit through which grace flows is revelation knowledge of God and His word. Every man of grace is a man of revelation. It takes the knowledge of God to access the grace of God. Anywhere you knowledge ends, that's where your grace ends. You can never access grace beyond your level of knowledge. It is the knowledge of God and of Jesus Christ that gives us access to the grace of God. That's why we must keep growing in knowledge. The more you increase in knowledge, the more His grace will become accessible to you. You can't access grace for divine health if you don't have a working knowledge of the covenant provision for divine health. If you want grace for supernatural protection, you need the revelation of divine protection from the scriptures to access that grace. Every kingdom secret you access opens you up to the grace it carries. Everyone you see in the kingdom who is enjoying a particular kind of grace has access to the revelation that makes that grace available. The mother of grace is knowledge. So go for knowledge. Increase in knowledge in any area will invariably bring an increase in grace. Ignorance is an enemy of grace. Anything you don't know you may not likely have grace in that area. Grace and knowledge are like the two sides of the coin. You can't touch the grace of God until you acquire the knowledge of God. It is the revelation knowledge of God and His word that usher us into the realms of grace.

3. Be Humble- 1 Peter 5:5

God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. It takes humility to access the grace of God. There are many arrogant people inside the church and outside the church. That's why the grace of God is far. When you think you know it all. You may be wrong. When you claim that you don't need God, it's only a matter of time and you will begin to see your own weaknesses. God doesn't give His grace to proud and arrogant people. A proud person doesn't recognize God. An arrogant person gives the glory to himself. When you uplift yourself, God will bring you down, but when you humble yourself before God, Jehovah will lift you up. Humility is the pathway to grace. The more humble you are the easier it is for you to access the grace of God. Humility is not necessarily a matter of laying postrait before God or man all the time. Humility is a thing of the heart. It is an attitude of always acknowledging God as the source of your strength. Humility is always seeing God as everything and seeing yourself as nothing without God. Humility is considering others as important as you are and treating everyone the same way you want them to treat you. If you want grace from God, humble yourself before Him. There are people who feel too big in the house of God that they can't even kneel down. Such people are not ready to receive grace. When you are humble in your spirit, it will show in your words and actions.

4. Become a lover of God- 1 Cor 2:9

Loving God will give you access to the grace of God. All the Wonders of God are prepared for the lovers of God. Anywhere you see the grace of Jesus Christ, you will see the love of God following it( 2 Cor 13:14). If you don't love God, you can't access the grace of God. Where your love for God ends, that's the limit of your access to the grace of God. You can't love God and won't access His grace. The grace of God is for everybody but only those who love God can access it. It takes the love of God to receive the grace of God. If you want grace, turn your heart towards God. How big your heart is towards God will determine the boundaries of His grace you can access. Every genuine lover of God is a carrier of grace. David was a lover of God, became an epitome of grace in his generation. Apostle Paul was a radical lover of Christ, consequently none of his colleagues in ministry enjoyed the grace of God like he did. Show me a man or woman who loves God unconditionally, I will show you someone who will be decorated with so much grace that generations will live to celebrate. Any attack on your love for God is an attack targeted to rob you of the grace of God. Anything that wants to reduce your love for God wants to push you out of the grace of God. To continually enjoy grace from God, you must remain in love with God.

5. Committed to Kingdom Service- 1 Cor 15:10

While considering How to Access Grace, it's important for us to remember that grace is free but it's not cheap. The grace that cost Jesus Christ His life is not cheap. Grace is very expensive. It is costly and cannot be bought with gold and silver. One of the ways to access the grace of God is through commitment to kingdom service. There is a kingdom labour that guarantees an outpouring of grace. The scripture says, the husbandman that labours shall be the first pertaker of the fruit thereof. So only those who labour for the kingdom are entitled to receive grace from God. Have you not noticed that those who are not committed in soul winning or other important service groups in the church rarely manifest the gifts of the Spirit? God is not a waster of resources. Why will God give you His grace? What's your motive for asking for grace? Is it for you to pocket it in your handbag and carry it around anywhere you are going? If it's not for the purpose of kingdom service, His grace may not be accessible to you. One of the keys that unlocks the grace of God is kingdom service. You can serve your way into the grace of God. While Zachariah the Priest was busy serving God, grace visited him in his duty post. Keep serving God wherever you may be, soon the grace of God will locate you.

6. Obedience to Divine Instructions - Proverbs 1:8-9

How to Access Grace from God is through obedience to Divine Instructions. Any time you obey a divine instruction given to you by God or a servant of God, it provokes an ornament of grace upon your head. Nothing brings grace like obedience. When you walk in obedience to God, you will literally enjoy the grace of God. Disobedience cuts a man off from the grace of God. When Adam disobeyed God, he fell from the grace of God. Therefore, choosing to obey God at all cost is the only way to remain connected to the flow of God's grace.

7. Wisdom gives us access to grace- Proverbs 4:7-9

One of the channels through which we can access grace from God is wisdom. The bible defines wisdom as the fear of the Lord. That is consecration. Nothing brings grace like holiness. That's why the bible says blessed are the pure heart for they shall see God. Purity gives you access to the grace of God. Sin cuts a man or woman away from the grace of God. The more one continues to live in sin, the farer he walks away from grace. Nothing separates a man from grace like sin. The reason is this, grace is not forever. It has a limit it can endure and wait for the sinner to change his mind and repent. The fear of the Lord is to depart from evil. It is to reverence the Lord. When sin goes away, grace comes in. We access grace through wisdom which is the fear of the Lord.

8. We access Grace Through Faith- Ephesians 2:8, Heb 11:6

Everything we receive from God must be through faith. Without faith it is impossible to receive anything from God. Faith is the link between you and grace. It doesn't matter who you are, what matters is your faith. The access code to grace is faith. If you don't believe in grace, you can't receive grace. We must believe to receive. Believing is a choice. It takes nothing to believe but your heart. We don't need our brain or number six as some people call it to believe God. The bible says, if you can believe, all things are possible to him that believes. If you believe, you will receive. Faith is senseless. It may not make sense to your mind or brain. But if you can believe in your heart, you will receive it.

Final Thought

Grace is Contagious. Grace is a transferable spiritual entity. I believe I have shown you from God's word How to Access Grace.  Don't forget that partnering with a man or woman of grace can help you to access grace upon that human vessel. Every man or woman of God is a carrier and vehicle of grace. When you give to the Prophet, you become a pertaker of the grace upon that servant of God. Any grace you don't value cannot add value to your life. We must learn to honour and celebrate Grace. Don't meet grace and allow it to pass you by. That was how Jacob encounter grace to changed him to Israel. It was also through this medium that Abraham encountered grace to changed his situation. Be sensitive to recognize grace any time you see it. Grace can meet you at an unusual place in an unusual hour. From Now henceforth, your life shall be anointed with the oil of grace. Remain blessed for life.

  1. Interestin blog. If I can add a few thought of my own. Christians often confuse mercy and grace. The common definitions are inadequate (mercy is when you don't get what you deserve, grace is when you get what you don't deserve). These are clever sounding cliches. Mercy is God's favor at God's choice (I will have mercy on whom I choose to have mercy). Grace is God's favor accessed by faith that God will keep His word (His promises). We see this most profoundly when Paul says "I pleaded 3 times for the Lord to remove this thorn in the flesh, a messenger sent by Satan to buffet me and He answered, 'My Grace is enough for you'". God's not telling Paul to tough it out, He's saying apply faith to the promise, access my grace! In this way we can see that GRACE is the work of the covenant. When (in those places of the covenant) we believe that promises and act accordingly we walk in grace and receive the benefits of God's grace.
